As u all know i have not followed skating since the 2006 Olympics. I was just wondering whatever happened to Irina Slutskaya? But i have 2 other questions: What was she sick from in 2004 i think was the year? She had the fatigue and leg swelling? and when she came back at worlds what music did she use for both programs?

Irina and her husband are expecting their first child sometime this winter, I think. Her illness was vasculitis/pericarditis or something like that. She had swelling in the sac surrounding her heart and suffered other circulatory problems. I'm not sure what the name of her music was the year she came back from her illness.

she did have her baby i believe and is retired from skating, obviously

I don't think she's had her baby... the topic would have been up on FSU for a while for sure and I never saw one. But, this is me we're talking about

This information seems pretty reliable so here it is:

Irina didn't enter the 2003 World Championships because her mother was ill and after her mother got better, Irina suffered fatigue and swelling in the legs. Despite this, she entered 2004 Worlds but came 9th. This was when she also caught vasculitis but made a comeback in 2005 and competed throughout 2006.
She didn't compete at World Figure Skating Championships in 2006 and has not skated since then. In November 2006, she has denied rumours that she will be retiring, stating: "No, I am not finished. If I said I'm retiring, I forgot to tell my coach." After a journaiist quoted her as saying she would be retiring, Irina replied: "I wish to talk with the one journalist who wrote this. Maybe he doesn't like how I skate. I have no idea. It's just funny, I think the people who just don't know me, they see I'm working on TV and they need something and they're writing 'Oh she's on television now.' I'm tired of telling people, 'Don't listen to the rumours, listen to me."
On April 10th 2007, she announced that she'd be returning to Russia and won't be competing at 2007 Champions On Ice tour due to her pregnancy.

So it looks like she's still got ideas to come back. I certainly hope so!

She really does look beautiful, i wonder if she'll have a boy or a girl, i think it's gonna be a girl. That would be so cool if she returned after the baby. thanks for the help guys.

I am so happy that Irina will become a mother. I hope her health problems are behind her. She is a sweet young woman. She will be missed on the ice!

Yep, when we heard that after the COI, we thought of funny names to go with her

and I didn't hear she had longish red hair! I LOVE IT!
