That is awful to say about a girl who could have just given up after her two major mistakes! She kept going as if she were going to win gold! People need to think before they write...

The fact that they referred to Robin at all just shows what an attention snob she is. Still though, it didn't take a rocket scientist to see that Sasha looked absolutely terrified out there last night. I've never seen her look more scared.

Sasha just didn't have that look in her eyes, you could just tell that her mind was somewhere else, the fire wasn't there. But she gave such an amazing performance after the falls, that if she had landed those 2 jumps, there's no doubt in my mind she would've won, but unfortunatley not the case.
The guy who wrote this has no clue about figure skating, he said she deserved FOURTH? Then said that SUGURI was the most athletic of them all, excuse me but what competition was he watching?? Don't get me wrong, I really like Fumie, but I don't think she's either very artistic or athletic, kind of middle on both accounts.
He said that Irina skated a "more dazzling program but only stumbled once." Dazzling? Where? Again- I really do love Irina, a lot, one of the best..but the artistry just simply does not compare. It by no means was dazzling. In my "rankings" of the best performances, Sasha would be at the top, if you look at her spiral sequences/footwork sections, now that's what I call dazzling. Irina's was weak in comparison. Irina is the most athletic in the competition, but by no means best artistry. That award goes to Sasha, any day, any way, all the time!

I feel like emailing him as well, but I'm too scared haha. Someone should just email him the link to this thread, see what he thinks?

There were letters in today's L.A. Times angry with Plaschke's article as well as the general treatment of Sasha. One said, why did they only print pictures of Sasha falling while others weren't pictured after their fall (two pics actually...one of cover of the front page, one on the cover of the Olympics section...no other pics of Sasha). Another letter commended Sasha for coming back to win silver. The best letter said about Plaschke...he just didn't want to be there.

It'll pass. Give it a week. And in the big picture years from now, it'll be the quality of Sasha's skating that will be remembered. Not these articles - good or bad.

yeah, someday they are going to be saying: "I wish we still had skaters like Sasha Cohen-- they don't make them like they used to..."

holy moly!! what is this guy smoking? she didn't want to be there? hello? Isn't it EVERYONE'S dream to go to the olympics? If Sasha didn't want to skate, she would have quit long ago. And Irina's more dazzling? I don't think so.
BTW, i think that the second article is crap that someone made up. I doubt that Sasha would smoke because she needs healthy lungs for skating.

Of course it was made up, they were telling it as if it was 2016 and they were looking back 10 years. They are just doing that to get higher ratings and get thereselves known. What an idiot they have writing that.

I can't say about all the papers, but it seems like the media LOVES printing pictures of favorites falling. There was even a slideshow about all the falls during the LP. I find it very weird. Maybe they think the public watches solely for the falls. Michelle's SLC fall still circulates quite a bit. Like I said before, the media loves to kick you when you're down...

It will blow over-almost time for Worlds!
