I don't follow a specific diet. I really think that just following a diet and exercise plan that suits your own needs is better than following a specific diet. Just try to make healthy choices and don't overeat. For example, instead of cookies, try 100 Calorie Packs of Chips Ahoy or Oreos, they are really good. If you go to a restaurant, get mashed potatoes instead of french fries sometimes. And make sure you exercise frequently. You just need to find the right combination that works for you. Everyone's different.

diets are bad- they restrict you too much and when you think of it as a diet I bet 90% of the time you will like "cheat" or whatever so if you wnat to get in better shape teh ebst thing to do is just eat healthy things all teh time like fruits and vegetables and things like chicken and fish are really good too oh yeah and I love carbs so I eat rice, preferably wild rice because its better than white rice... lol and oh yeah carbs are really good for athletes so don't go all carb crazy good luck I hope you find out works for you

I'm not a fan of diets. They never last and usually take a long time for your body to get accustomed too. Instead of being on a diet-just make smart choices about food. Don't eat a day filled with pizza and soda and then have 2 pieces of cake later that night. Or if you do, cut back on calories the next day and have a healthy sandwich and some veggies for lunch. Just know when its time to stop. Also cutting soft drinks out will help alot. Cranberry juice or Powerade(I refuse to drink gatorade no matter how good it is as I am an avid Seminole fan) is an awesome replacement! Also definetley eat healthy the days before youre at the rink and competition. It will help you a ton.

Ksenia, I apologize for this being irrelevant - but I've always wondered, how exactly is that name pronounced? Thanks!

haha I pretty sure it sounds just like it spelled? like the H isn't silent or anything you say "keh-seen-ee-a" haha I used to know a girl with that name and thats how she said it but I really have no idea if other people use that pronounciation too lol
anyway I just wanted to agree with Ice Dreamer, if you eat junk food before you sakte you really do feel gross- at least i do, you'll be able to skate so much better if you eat healthy on teh days you skate or comepte or even the days before

I agree with everyone else who's posted, "diets" tend to be sort of bad...it's better to just try and eat right and exercise a lot, and educate yourself about what helps and what doesn't than to try and actually do a specific diet. For example, you should always try to eat complex carbs rather than simple, and high-fiber foods (a quick way is to look at the nutrition facts on a food, and if the fiber is higher than the carbs, that's good and means it's complex, and if it's lower, that's bad...of course that's a pretty simple rule and it won't tell you everything, but it does help).

Ksenia - Welcome to Sasha Fans! I would like to take a few seconds to remind you of a single rule: Please do not post two times in a row; this is called double posting. It clogs the boards with unneeded messages.
And diets are overrated. Just don't diet.
ETA: Note the word DIE in diet. Just an interesting thought.

Funny this thread should come up, because I'm on a diet right now! lol It is a diet that restricts you a lot at first to fix your blood sugar levels or something like that, but eventually you get to a point where it is a healthy eating plan for life.
Some basic things to keep in mind:
- Sugar is an enemy. Don't eat a lot of things with added sugar.
- Eat "better" carbs like whole grain bread instead of white bread, brown rice instead of white, etc. White flour is PROCESSED so there are not many nutrients.

i am kinda on a diet to keep me in check of my health. but here are some ways that you can keep something off without having to go the extra mile of foods you think is gross.
-if you like a little sweet treat like pudding, try Fat free pudding. it is a way to keep the urge of something sweet with out feeling guilty. also anther delicious sweet treat for me is wheat free dairy free and gluten free cookies! they taste pretty much the same as regular cookies, but without all they stuff that gets you...well you know...uhh...not gonna say it on the forum.
-a BIG key to dieting is MODERATION. eating stuff in moderation helps you not get on the path of the "F" word. (not that f word)
i learned alot about dieting from my mom, i am losing weight thanks to her tips. even if you dont need it, and you skinny, dont worry about it you can just do it to stay healthy.

Diets are not good. There's nothing like self-deprivation to make you want to overeat. Instead of eating a big three meals a day, try eating small snacks throughout the day about.... maybe... 5,6, maybe 7 small snacks. And instead of eating like something junky, try to eat more fruits and vegetables. use the food guide pyramid to help you eat the right foods. And excersise a lot.
Hope this helps!
