Although I had my McCool rant a little earlier, I do feel sorry that her whole olympics will be over after those 4 events. But on the other hand, she needs to get higher SV's and developing more speciality, her good form isn't enough now.

I think Sofronie, Ban, Khorkina, and Patterson will be the top 4 for the AA. (But of course there is Kupets, Kozich, and many great others). So far all these ladies are doing great and I'll see how they hold up.

I think part of the reason the U.S. doesn't have the same aura they did in 96 because A) they are not in front of a hometown crowd and B) there was barely any crowd in those prelim competition. I think the crowd had a lot to do with it, as well as the team bonding and how they all stayed at that sorority house and roomed together, while I think the U.S. team is getting along fine right now I don't think they bonded like the mag 7 did. anyhow i don't want to judge on their relationships because I find that annoying when people do that and try to get a perspective on their 'friendship'from afar.

McCool was awesome during team finals to still try to be so upbeat and supportive when she must have been at least a little upset. I know you like Terin, but I have to say, both the GAGE girls totally rock . Her SV's on beam and bars are both 10.0 now with the addition of the double layout 1/1 dismount off bars, and if she does the tuck jump double and popa combo in floor she'd have a 10.0 there too, so her SV's are good, and her form is her best asset, IMO, probably the best in the US, as the commentators have raved about. The whole thing about the judges not giving credit for McCool's beam dismount is interesting to me, because when others like Mo, Carly, Court. K, etc, take huge steps on their beam dismounts, they still get full credit sometimes, even when a step can mean that the dismount was over or underrotated. But then again, judging isn't always accurate, as we see in figure skating all the time.

Many gymnasts have been way overscored cough...cough...Ponor and Khorkina and some were way underscore cough...cough...Terin's ub. I have never seen McCool every complete a full triple twist on her beam dismount. She's always short of rotation but the one she did in prelims was the closet I have ever seen her do. I would agree not giving McCool the full credit. Its kind of like figure skating when Sarah never completed the full rotations and the judges really nailed her in 03. On the other hand, I can't believe the judges credited Rosu's 2.5 yerchenko. She was more like 2 1/3. She's a great vaulter and will clearly win the vault gold but there was not way she should have gotten credit.

Yay Monica Rosu, I hope she wins that Gold Medal, and seeing Annia up there would be nice as well. I love Rosu, she is an amazing vaulter.

Yeah, Rosu's vault is unbelievable, I think she'll win vault gold . It's true that McCool doesn't always complete full rotations on the dismount, but it seems like she always gets clobbered for it more than gymnasts who have underrotated salto dismounts. But Terin's UB score was low during team finals. Compared with Carly's bars scores that day, which IMO was overscored by .1, IMO, Terin should have gotten at least a 9.7. They better score her right during bars finals!

I agree! Carly was overscored on her bars routine. Terin should've gotten at least a 9.7. Bars finals are always very deep with Khorkina, Kupets (I think), Tweddle, etc. etc. It really could be anybody.

Yeah I'm definitely excited for bars finals! There's also that french girl (can't remember her name...LePennec I think?) who was pretty amazing during AAs. The Chinese girls are also lovely when they hit. I'm really hoping for Khorkina and Courtney K. to tie for gold though - I would love to see Svetlana go out on a good note and Courtney has always been my favourite - her release skills are fantastic and she just seems to be such a sweetie!
