found an old interveiw from last year about Brian Joubert:
http://www.goldenskate.com/articles/2003/102403.shtml
if you go down to the 5th question theres one about Evgeny Plushenko...i posted it below....funny! :p :)

"Kathleen: What do you admire in his style over Plushenko's?

Brian: I don't like Plushenko's skating, it's - how do you say, um, too "showy"? I prefer the masculine style. Evgeny is of course a good skater, but I prefer the style of Alexei."

I like the part when he says he prefers the masculine style! I totally agree! plushenkos skating is way too girly!!!

I personally think Evgeny's skating isn't girly at all. He's a showman, plays to the audience, and has good lines. I like to watch him, because he keeps the audience's enjoyment in mind. If that's girly, then I wish every male skater was "girly." It's better than just skating the program with no emotion whatsoever.

Brian likes Alexei's skating because he copies it and thinks it will make him a great skater.

It's true that he copies alot of Alexei's style but i don't know if he's really doing that cause he think it will make him a great skater. Skaters has to find their own style. There's one alexei yagudin and there will never be a second one.

And i don't think plushenko's style is girly...not at all. For me a girly style it's like johny weir or Fedor Andreev. I really like Weir and Fedor but they have a girly style.

I LOVE Evgeny's skating. He is a complete skater and he is always exciting. I love his artistic syle, and his technical is awesome. His program last year at World's was just amazing. I kept watching it over and over. Personally, I loved a lot of Yugudin's short program's, but I rarely liked his long programs because they were always a story and sometimes they just dragged on.

Brian has to say that he likes Yagudin better because he is working with him and Tarosava. If he said he liked Evgeny better then they would stop working with him which I wish they would. He looks like he is trying to copy Yagudin and frankly it just isn't working for him. He needs his own style of skating instead of a reworking of Yagudins programs. I don't know if it's the choreography that is too dificult or other problems, but he isn't very consistent this season.

I like Brian, but he needs to remove himself from Yagudin.

I love evgeny too! He's not girly at all. He just has a different style then Joubert. I like Joubert too. I like his style. But, just because plushenko doesnt skate to the Matrix and stuff doesnt mean he skates "girly". I actually think that Plushenko is more briliant than Joubert!

Evgeny is anything but girly. Johnny Weir I could understand calling that though because he has so much grace it's rediculous (I love watching him though). Brian doesn't prefer showy. That's alright. I don't prefer watching cheap immitations of greatness gone bad in programs that are wrong on so many levels (not to mention costumes).

I don't think he's girly; while he's the best technical skater out there, I don't like his style. It doesn't appeal to me.

I actually really liked Joubert best in that very very first time we saw him, in his "time" program, where he was just a green little beginner and noone knew who he was. It seemed that then he had a profound admiration for Alexei, but continued to perfect his own style, or at least try to find it. Now he's all about being "MACHO" and toe-picky... I think whatever success he's had, or maybe working with the Olympic Gold Medalist, has gone to his head.
As for Plushenko, the man has incredible lines and a crazy ability to push his own horizons. I think it's fair to say that he's his own and only competition, and he comes back every season bigger and better than he was before.

I do not like Joubert's long program at all this season. I haven't seen his short, but just looking at the costume  Last year he was marvelous though, and he actually had his own style, albeit with a lot of Alexei influence. Time and his Matrix program were excellent when he skated them well, and I loved watching them. This year though...

Plush is not a girly skater at all; he is a fantastic showman and entertainer on the ice with plenty of charisma and technical skill. I personally prefer Yagudin's skating to Plushenko's, but I prefer Plushenko over Joubert. Joubert is no Alexei Yagudin, and it disappoints me that instead of finding his own style, he's just copying Yagudin. I hate Joubert's LP this year, but I really enjoyed watching Plushenko's. And yeah, I do think Weir's skating can be called "girly", but why is that a problem? I like Weir's skating. He's got his own style, even if it is girly.

Am I the only one who thinks Plushenko's programs are overrated? Don't get me wrong, he's a consistent skater, but I hate his style. He just poses way too much.

Zhenya is a great artist. He really knows how to capture your attention with his skating without losing an ounce of masculinity. Joubert should really avoid the topic of personal style in skating cuz he ain't got none. He is like an Alexei cloning experiment gone bad. Like Uncle Dick said, he should have taken up soccer. And BTW, Alexei's style was just as "showy" in terms of drama. He is the only Russian skater I prefer to Plushy.

ITA with Skatingfreak about Weir. He looks more feminine out there than Irina (sorry Irina fans) but he is a very beautiful skater. I'd take his "girly" skating over Joubert's stiffness any day.

Skatingfreak, I totally agree. If weir's style is girly why is it a problem? I like his style too. It's different then Plushenko and Joubert. (i still love plushenko and joubert!)

I think they are as well. Last year was an exception, but I think that's because I really dug his music.
