I don't know if I posted this in the right forum, so someone can move it if it should be somewhere else.

I really want to download soulseek so I can see all the skating that I've missed over the years, but after I download it, how do I connect with people who have skating videos? Also, this computer is brand new (got it for college) and I really don't want it to get viruses or spy-ware or anything, so have any of you had problems with that stuff by downloading skating videos? Sorry if these are dumb questions; I'm not the most computer literate person in the world!

edit: or maybe I should get rinkside instead... which is better?

soulseek is always going down and the downloads are soo slow. At least, that is my experience. I'm sorry I can't help you w/ it :( I used to have it but I deleted it.
I have rinkside which I feel is more speedy and reliable. Here is the website.

I would definitely get rinkside over soulseek if rinkside works for you. I know there are a few who can't get rinkside to work for them. But you should try rinkside. It's much easier to use and easier to find things you are looking for. Soulseek is a decent alternative if rinkside doesn't work, but I think it is much more tedious to work than rinkside.

my soulseek busted, I don't know what happened. But I like Rinkside, so I reccomend it (not viruses yet)

Go to "View" and then to "Search". Fill in "jr worlds" or something and you'll definitely find it. Good luck! :D

Thanks! Okay, I have one more dumb question... I dowloaded Sasha's Marshall's performance and it's a Media Player file, but I can only hear it, not see it. It says I need a codec or something. Where do I get that?

Hm I have the same problem! I don't know how to get the codec, maybe if you do a search on Rinkside, you will find it. Or just ask in the chatroom I'm sure someone can help you.

I have downloaded a ton of Sasha and other people's videos off the icechampions website. I just recently got a virus of some sort, do you think this is because of all the downloading?

I know people get sick od downloading stuff. Buy I would highly recommend downloading a divx player. I think it can be found on http://www.divx.com . But that should solve the codec issues. It works really well. And I'm willing to bet that you have the same video as me downloaded because I needed to use divx player to see it.

on soulseek go to the "rooms" list and right click then choose "create room" type in "iceroom" and that brings you to the list of all of the people who have files... right click on one or more people and browse their files...

Yes. It plays anything a windows media player except it tends to be better at running those wierd files that windows media player doesn't seem to like. THe only files that it does play are ram which you would use real player for.

I really like DivX. it works for almost anything. It's really useful and I use it more than WMP! (well it just recently broke down..but..)
