Ok so Tara is working on an acting career, do you think she will be successful? She has stated that being an OGM has actually made it harder to get roles because everyone thinks of her as a skater first, which makes since because she is/was a skater. I actually think that Tara can be a successful actress because when she puts her mind to something 100% she is determind. I do miss her skating a lot but I know that skating causes her pain and I wouldn't want her to be in pain for my sake or anyone elses. What do you think?

Hmm I am a fan of Tara's but I always think she'll be better at Skating then acting. Skating is just her thing. I don't think she is that great of an actress. She is alright but not phenomenal. I don't see her going any places. The thing she's got going for her is 98 Oly Gold Medalist so I don't see why she doesn't do some kind of coaching or anything like that.

From what I hear, she can barely skate because of her hip. There's no real chance of her touring or anything like that. So, if she enjoys acting, I say go for it! She's pretty good, and with training she could be even better.

Hmmm, well honestly I don't think Tara is not skating because of her hip. If you remember she skated after her surgery. I think she stopped skating to work on her acting career...and to try to lose that skater image (which will be impossible to do)...because skaters aren't really taken seriously as actors...and it seems right now she only wants to act. She could skate/tour if she really wanted to. Look at Rudy Galindo he had 2 hip replacement surgeries and he is skating...Naomi Nari Nam had the exact same problem and surgery that Tara did and she is skating...so yeah I think she stopped skating to focus on an acting career.
But as far as her acting goes....she is OK, not the greatest...I am afraid she will never be taken seriously in Hollywood...sad really cause she definitely seems to have the acting bug...she has moved to LA and hangs out with actors and everything...as a matter of fact in one of her latest journal entries she mentioned her and another actor friend writing some kind of screen play or something and they are trying ot get it picked up (or whatever they call it)

Tara to me seems like the type of person who loves a challenge. She accomplished all she could in skating and her hip was in pain and I don't think she feels any real motivation to skate. Of course if people started saying Tara could never skate again she'd probably start again just to prove them wrong. That girl has such an iron will. She's a pretty okay actress but I haven't seen her in a role that will tell whether she has real talent or not. She has said she wants to be viewed as an actress not a skater turned actress which is a challenge so that makes her want it even more. Best of luck to her; it'd be awesome to see her succeed in both worlds.

In my eyes she will always be that little cheerful skater that won the olympics at just fifteen! She was such a wonderful skater, it gonna be hard to get the same kind of recognition for acting as she did for skating! Its easy to be good at more than one thing, but its nearly impossible to be magnificant at 2 things, i mean i wish her the best if acting is what she wants to pursue, but it is gonna be really difficult for her to try and match what she did in the skating world...........awww i just wish she would skate again, thats what we all know and love her for! :sasha:

I too just wish she would go back to skating. I'm not saying she should give up on acting, but she will probably not be as good of an actress as she is a skater. I know she can probably still skate but she just doesn't want to. It will be almost impossible for her to be taken seriously as an actress and I just wish she would do acting on the side and continue to tour, and do what she is best at.

Tara hasn't bowled me over with her acting abilities as yet I think she has potential but needs to work some more on making her roles appear second nature and doesn't scream acting. I think she can improve with more experience and hard work on her part. I don't know how succesful Tara can be as an actress because it is a tough business but with a little luck and persistence who knows what can happen one very smart thing she has done is gone after roles that are challenging to her so that she can develop her range and are outside of the figure skater role or cameos as herself.

Tara's acting resume. I think she only would've score an 1/8 of the roles she got if it weren't for skating. maybe less.

Ummm I would say none! IMO the only reason she even got those roles was because of her Olympic fame. Say she wasn't a skater at all...do you think she would have gotten those roles...I highly doubt it....way too much competition out there and way better actresses.

She was on 7th Heaven a few times, or maybe once, right? I'm sure I saw here on that show, and if I remember correctly, her acting didn't really do much for me, either. I too, would love it if she would just kinda do the acting thing on the side, and skate still, with shows. And skating is what she's famous for, so it will be hard for people to see her as just an actress, rather than a skater turned actress. But whatever she does, I wish her all the best.

She was on both part 1 and 2 of the 2003 season finale. She was supposed to move in with the Camden's but there was no mention of her in this years season premier so that storyline was killed off.
As for acting - she's not that great. Sorry Tara is my absolute favorite skater ever but I don't think she's a great actress. Maybe if she played someone completely different from herself she would be more believable but in any role she plays (even the prostitute on 7th Heaven) I see Tara, she just can't escape that good-girl American image in my mind.

I know, there is lots of fierce competition out there and I just so wish that she wouldn't delusion herself into thinking she can make it as an actress..(When I say actress I mean Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, etc etc. Not extra or walk-on actress :p ). I know she loves it and all but she should still do something along the lines of skating, maybe even do a little seminar or camp (like sasha did) and she would be appreciated every where she went and get lots of money. And she didn't go to college either so....

awww, you guys be nice lol, she still might go to college, we have to remember that she is only 21 years old. it seems like shes' been around forever but she is still young! I know she is a smart girl and will probably still go to college, she has tons of years ahead of her still, as for acting, she has shown us before that she is unstoppable when she "wants" something, especially when she is being criticized for it ( 98 oly's when ppl all said she wouldnt win) so whether we like it or not, shes gonna keep acting and probably prove us wrong ;) until then......the best of luck in whatever she does...lets just hope she includes a little skating here and there  :sasha:

well then she's a better actress than everyone gives her credit for. Tara was stubborn and didn't listen to the advice of her doctors and other skaters and she came back too fast and as a result her hip's condition worsened... she had several nasty falls and relapses. I don't doubt she's in constant pain. I'll bet if she had it to do all over again she'd have taken the time off... I understand her wanting to come back to SOI for Scott's farewell, but the next season was the killer, I think....
anywho... I don't see her making it far. However I think she should go to college -- or at least a theatre school -- and she'll have every chance of improving. Not only as an actress but she'll improve her chances...

I am optimistic about her acting. I don't think she'll get an oscar or anything but I think she will have a comfortable acting career. She's pretty green now but w/ lots more experience and practice I think she will get a lot better. As for skating, I don't think her hip will allow much of it. And since she can't do SOI, she will probably only do Ice Wars or something.
