Yup, she did. Dasha skated great! It was funny before the results came up she looked at the sheet that says like what position you skate in, and she skated last (8) and was like O NO! I came in 8th, and I was like Dasha the results aren't up yet! Then of course when she found out that she tied with Kiara they were both excited! I think I helped them become friends!!!

I was just gonna post this but you beat me to it! i absolutely LOVE Daria and i wish her the best in her skating! i really want to see her skate, even a video...ive seen a video of her and katia just doing a fun show number, hey baby! but i havent seen her competition programs, is there anywhere we can get them or no?

I don't think you can becuase it is like a private video. Hmm. I think you have to like order them at the competition, and tell the flight and the name ect...

It is Daria Grinkov-Gordeeva, the daughter of the famous pairs skaters Sergei Grinkov and Ekaterina Gordeeva...... Im not sure the exact name of the music but it is some Egyption sort of music i hear.

Her name is actually Daria Gordeeva-Grinkova. You change Grinkov to the feminine. ;)

She looks so much like Katya, and Im sure she will grow up to have the same strong spirit as well.

Don't worry you don't sound like a stalker! Not trying to be mean-but why wouldn't Becca talk about her calmly or treat her as "just another friend?" ;)
She happens to have famous figure skating parents and has probably had more "media exposure" than other kids; but she's just another kid.

Thats the thing though, shes not just another kid on the block....she is Daria Gordeeva-Grinkova, she is the daughter of the most famous pairs skaters ever, and she has had TONS of media exposure! shes been in some major televised skating specials, and not to mention that her step father is the 1998 olympic gold medalist Ilia Kulik! i know what you mean that she is just another kid, but i also see where people are coming from when they dont understand how becca talks about her as just another kid......I dunno, i think if i saw daria skating at my rink all the time, i would feel like there was a celebrity there on the ice with me... But this is all just IMO. :lol:

I agree Kayla, I would feel the same way. I mean think about it, her parents are both Olympic Gold Medalists two times over, her stepfather is an Olympic Gold Medalist, their friends are Olympic Gold Medalists.....it is in her blood. I just hope she makes it big in the senior ranks...it will be magnificent to see, talk about a media frenzy.

Believe it or not-I do understand the point Keyla has made ;)
My point is that she should not be treated any differently than any other kid of an medal winning skater, who skates at the non-elite level.

And it is interesting to read about it-but I'm just as interested in how Timofei Ponomarenko or Viktoria Petrenko do; and I think it would be just as "magnificient" if Artur Dmitriev jr. makes it to the senior level. (All whom also have Olympic Gold Medalists for parents)

And personally, I do not see Daria as a celebrity or as any different than any other kid of an Olympic skating medalist.
So, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on that point :)

BTW-having skating in "your blood" does not guarentee anything-if that was the case than Sasha Zaitsev would have been a world champion many times over by now! :)

Because of the tragic death of her father, Daria came into the spotlight more than other children of olympic gold medalists. She was the daughter Sergei left behind and the fact that she looks so much like him just reminds people.
Only figure skating fans are going to recognize her or at least know her name.
To everyone else she's just a regular kid.
