When you really think about it, and are being realistic, what is the likelihood that we're going to be more advanced by 2006? With some girls having already landed triple axels and quadruple toes, and not being entirely rewarded for those technical feats, it doesn't motivate the skaters much to push for those moves knowing it won't get them anywhere special.
So realistically speaking, if everyone stays relatively the same, the chances of an Ann-Patrice McDonough or a Jenny Kirk defeating someone like Sasha Cohen or Michelle Kwan is still slim.
My bets for the three spots to Turino, if all the current eligibles stay in competition are: Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, and/or Sarah Hughes (if she gets herself back into competitive form) or Angela Nikodinov (with re-dedication to the sport.

Sarah improved a lot from 1999 to 2002 as did Angela Nikodinov...and Sarah beat Michelle twice...so I don't find it that hard to believe that one of the young kids could improve enough to challenge Sasha..I know its only really a couple years away, but a lot can happen in a couple of years...Michelle changed drastically from 1996 to 1998...I'm thinking BeBe or Danielle Kahle will be the third girl...I think AP and Jenny Kirk are too old now...they already have their "style" and I don't think its that great...BeBe still has stylistic freedom and Danielle is just breaking in..I can see Danielle really challenging Sasha and Michelle some time in the future...and this is just the US girls...I know everyone likes to say the US ladies are the best skaters but the rest of the world is sure catching up...

I agree. It can happen. But Sasha still has alot on these younger skaters...like exspirence. I totally forgot about Carolina. She is a wonderful. She will deff be on of the skaters of the future.

Hi!!
I would like that Sasha, Sarah and michelle (if she still skating in 2006) going to olympics! But who's gone a win?? I think that Srah will not be able to win it again..maybe Michelle or Irina if they still skating!! But Sasha have very good chances i think! In men i wish that alexei win it again or plushenko! I hope that Emmanuel Sandhu will be able to compet this time and will make the top 3!!
i would like:
1-Sasha Cohen
2-joanie Rochette (i don't know if she will be able to make the podium...)
3-Sarah hughes
it will probably be, Sasha, Michelle and another russian skater or fumie sugurie!

If we look back at the 1998 olympics...did someone tough that Sarah Hughes will win the gold in 2002?? in 1998 i don't think that Sarah was even a senior skater! so everyting can happen! Maybe that the canadien women Joanie Rochette (she currently in the top 25 in the worlds...) will be abble the win a medal...! or maybe that we dont already know the skater who'll win! But i dont think that a young skater can beat Sasha...seriously she to good...I think technicaly and artisticly she is the best in the world...if she skated clean in qualifiyng short and long...maybe she has some chances to be the world champion! At the Sears open competion in red deer the comentator said about sasha: she will be a world champion and maybe when she'll stop skating she might be the best skater ever! and i think he's right!! She is original...she has so much mooves that anyone except her can do...!!

i think
1. Sasha
2.AP
3. Kimmie or Danielle
