Hey everyone! This is my first attempt at a fan fiction story, and I figured I try it since everyone else was over at the MK Forum. Don't just leave because it's about Michelle - I put Sasha in, and Sasha and Michelle are the two main characters. It's my first try, so go easy. I'm giving you a kind of pre-story kind of thing to se if you want me to keep writing, or if the plot is a bomber. I have absolutely no idea what the ending is going to be like, I'm writing as I go. I'm going to be adding new characters as I go along, most of them will be skaters I think. By the way, someone has to be the bad guy, so if I make a skater that you like the villain, don't take it personally. It's not that I don't like the skater, someone just has to be the villain. On the other hand, the villain may not even turn out to be a skater, so whatever! Hope you guys like my story!

Setting: Now-a-days. In a California City.
Characters: Michelle, Sasha, Timmy, Irina, Evgeny, Alexei, and anyone else you guys want me to add in later.

Deadly Intent
Pre-story

Michelle hummed quietly to herself as she walked briskly down the sidewalk of the bustling busy streets. The gentle breeze pushed back her gorgeous brown/gold hair as her heels clicked on the walk. The sun shone brightly down on the city, a few puffy clouds in the baby blue sky and leaves of the trees in the park dancing in the breeze. The smell of Star Bucks coffee and the delicious smells from the nearby bakery filled the air. It was early, and the city was just starting to wake up. Michelle sighed heavily to herself. She was on her way to meet her good friend and fellow ice skater Sasha Cohen. They were going shopping in the mall, and she could hardly wait. She was glad to be taking a break from figure skating for a couple of days, and loved being around Sasha. She was always so cute and bubbly, and always put Michelle in a good mood and made her laugh. She was a very good friend, and always seemed so happy to be near Michelle. Michelle's thoughts were interrupted, as she slammed into a man in a dark suit running past her. The man had curly brown/gold hair, and she realized that it was Timothy Goebel!

"Hey Timmy!" She shouted at him, happy to see him. They were very good friends, sometimes more than friends. He slammed into her side, knocking her to the ground. He mumbled something as he continued running past, and pulled into a dark alley a couple yards back. "What was his problem?" Michelle thought to herself. She shook her head, and stood back off, brushing off the dirt that had fallen onto her clothes. She pushed the thought away and she stood up. Suddenly she realized there was a sheet of paper next to her. "Must have fallen out of his pocket," she thought. She turned the paper over in her hands. It was a regular letter sized sheet of paper, with no stationary. But Michelle was shocked at what she saw on the paper. The paper read:

Back out of Worlds, Quad King. Or someone very, very close to you will be severely harmed! Permanently!

Chapter One

Michelle gasped. Who would threaten Timmy? Who wants him out of the competition and why? So many questions in Michelle’s head; not enough answers. Her heart ached, knowing Timmy could be in great danger. She quickly looked over the note again. She then recognized a small faint logo in the upper left hand corner of the paper. It was hard to make out, but it looked like a picture of a horse, with the words “Madison’s Best Quality Racing Horses” She quickly rushed to the mall to find Sasha.

“But why would someone possibly do that?” Sasha exclaimed.

“I don’t know, but we have to find out! I don’t want Timmy getting hurt!” Michelle answered.

“Should we go to the police?” Sasha asked.

“No. After all, they might pass it off as some child’s funny prank.”

“But I’m sure that it’s not!” Sasha retorted.

“But we don’t have enough evidence. I think we should further investigate. Sasha, today I want you to find Madison’s Horses in the phone book and make a trip there and just poke around. I’m going to go find Timmy and see if he will talk to me.”

“Alright,” Sasha agreed.

Michelle quickly started walking home. Her house was only a block away from Sasha’s, so it wasn’t very far. She didn’t know why she was walking so fast, but she wanted to get home quickly. She felt very strange walking home. Tofu greeted her at the door wagging his cute little tail as she walked in. She picked up the phone and started dialing Timmy’s number. It rang four times, and the answering machine came on.

“Hey Timmy. It’s Michelle. Um, I was wondering what happened today when you slammed into me today, and when I called your name you didn’t answer. Um, I found this paper that must have fell out of your pocket or something. I don’t know what it’s about Timmy, but if it’s serious, I fear for your safety. Please call me. I want to help you. I don’t want you getting hurt! Please Tim-”

Suddenly the phone clicked, and Michelle’s message stopped. Timmy had picked up the phone.

“Oh Timmy thanks for picking up the phone I-” But then Michelle stopped when she heard a deep gruff, disguised voice come over the phone.

“Timmy’s not here – and stay out of Timmy’s business – he doesn’t need you following him around like a little puppy. I’m warning you Michelle keep out!” The phone clicked, and the person hung up. Michelle was shocked. Where was Tim? And who was that person at his house? Michelle threw on her coat and hurried out of the house.

Chapter Two

(Meanwhile, at Sasha’s…)

“Ok, thank you. Goodbye.” Sasha hung up the phone. Indeed, there was a Madison’s Best Quality Racing Horses in the next town over, and Sasha hopped in her car to drive over there.

She slowed down as she reached a huge amount of land, maybe 8 acres at the least. A sign near the beginning of the land read, “Madison’s Best Quality Racing Horses” She parked the car, and walked into the small store next to the stables and the pasture. The store was colorful, with pictures of their horses and ribbons from competitions they had won, pictures of the horses for sale, and brochures. The company was huge, and had sold many many horses. A man stepped out from behind the counter. He had dark brown hair, a dark mustache, and a beard. His eyes were very dark, and he was tall and lean. Sasha stepped up to him.

“Excuse me, but I was wondering if I could look at the record of employees here.” Sasha politely asked.

“Why do you want to do that?” The man retorted. His voice was very deep and gruff. He stared at Sasha, and Sasha shivered.

“Well,” Sasha replied, “my friend used to work here as the secretary, and she wanted me to pick up some stuff she left in her desk a couple of days ago.”

“I’m sorry missy, but we keep all of our employees information top secret. Absolutely no one is allowed. If your friend wants her files, she will have to come and get them herself.”

“Well, could I just-”

“NO!” The man’s sudden tone scared Sasha. She turned to leave and stepped out the door. Suddenly something caught her eye. The back door to the store was open. The offices. Sasha quickly looked around to make sure no one was looking, and stepped inside.

There were many people in the offices, busy typing away at their computers, or taking calls for horses. Sasha wasn’t exactly sure what she was looking for, but she walked past rows of offices. The building was 2 stories, and Sasha hopped in the elevator to the second floor. The second floor was mostly empty, and there were only a few people in the offices. Sasha saw the second office on the right was dark, and Sasha walked up to it. Surprisingly, the door was unlocked. “That’s funny,” Sasha thought to herself. The desk was full of papers, most about just horses and stuff. But then Sasha gasped. A pad of stationary identical to the one that was on the note sat on the desk. The desk had some name of the secretary that she couldn’t pronounce. She decided to check another office.

The second one she checked was locked, but the third one was open. She pushed open the door and stepped inside. She searched the desk, and came up with the same results. It turned out that every desk had that stationary. She searched around for a name. Suddenly she heard the door creak behind her. She whirled around, but no one was there. She pulled open the drawer and gasped. Inside was a picture of Timmy, doing a spread Eagle. She examined the picture more closely and carefully put it in her purse. She looked for a name on the desk and took out a pen to write the name down. She found it, the first couple letters sticking out – Mish.

She was about to push the papers aside to read the rest of the name, something smashed onto her head. Pain shot through her entire body, and the world started to go black as Sasha slipped to the floor, unconscious.

I was at the beach most of the day today, so I posted the first 3 chapters and then took my notebook down to the beach and sat on the beach in a sweatshirt and wrote 2 more chapters. It was freezing! I must've looked silly. The next two chapters are really short, but there will be more coming tomorrow, I promise. I'll get up early and get writing. These next chapters are kinda short. Well, enough blabbing for me. Here's Chapter 3 and 4!

Chapter Three

Sasha’s view slowly came into focus. Her vision was blurred and her head was pouncing. Her whole body ached and at first she couldn’t fell the tight ropes cutting off her circulation. She looked around to try and figure out where she was. It was extremely dark and she had to let her eyes adjust to the darkness of the room. She could see the shadowy figures of a furnace and a water heater a couple of yards away and the floor she was laying on was cold cement. The room smelled musty and she could hear water dripping somewhere in the distance. “I’m probably in some sort of basement.” She thought to herself. She tried to stand up but her legs felt like jell-o and the ropes binding her ankles pulled tight. She exhaustingly sat back down, trying to figure out how to get out of the basement. Suddenly she saw something metallic gleam over in the corner. She squinted at it harder to make out what it was. It was a rusty chain saw, sitting on a workbench with other tools. “This is my way out!” Sasha thought. She slowly hoisted herself up off of the floor and carefully hopped over to the saw. The gag on her mouth was killing her and who knows when whoever tied her up would come back to get her. And then who knows what he would do to her. When she finally reached the table shw turned the chainsaw over and carefully placed her wrists on the saw. “I would never believe in my wildest dreams that I would be doing this right now. This morning, I was a care – free pretty, bubbly figure skater going to the mall with her friend. Now I’m trying to escape from a basement someone tied me up in! What a life I live.” The saw was dull, and she had to really rub hard. After about 10 minutes of sawing at the ropes, the ropes finally came loose. Sasha gratefully pulled them off of her wrists. Her wrists were raw and red from the ropes but she quickly pulled off the gag. Through the darkness, Sasha could still make out the gag – it was a piece of cloth – cloth from Timmy’s “An American in Paris” costume – the costume he had been wearing the night before!

Chapter Four

Michelle parked her car outside of Timmy’s house. She ran up to the door. Suprisingly, the second floor window was wide open, with the curtains blowing out of it. The front door was creaked open and the house was pitch dark.

“Something is not right,” Michelle thought to herself, shivering. Michelle slowly opened the door.

“Timmy?” The door creaked. It was like something out of a horror movie. She crept through the house she knew too well.

“Timmy’s ok. He’s probably sitting on the couch reading a book or watching tv,” Michelle thought, trying to calm down her rapidly beating heart. The house was like it usually was. With Tim and his rather neat personality, he loathed a messy house and almost always kept it in semi – order. The kitchen was normal looking, but Michelle didn’t know what to expect.

“Timmy?” Michelle called. “Timmy!” …Silence. It was an eerie silence, and it sent a chill down her spine. She shivered and tried to find a light switch. The furniture cast dark shadows on the walls. Michelle found a flashlight in one of the cabinets and flicked it on. She started up the stairs.

“Timmy? Timmy?” She trudged up the stairs. She turned into Timmy’s room.

“Ahh,” she thought, “a light switch.” She flicked it on and gasped. Timmy’s room was an absolute mess! All the drawers were pulled open and clothes lay all over the floor. The closet was completely torn apart. His stereo was knocked over, ice skating medals all over the floor. The window was wide open, drapes blowing in sending a chilly wind through the room. But Timmy was no where to be found.

“Timmy!!” Michelle exclaimed. Her heart ached for Tim. What if he was in danger? But, did her heart ache out of concern….....or out of…....love?

Chapter Five

Sasha gasped. What did this mean? That Timmy had tied her up? Or whoever had tied her up done something with Timmy? She couldn’t believe it. What was Michelle going to do? She had seen them flirting before, and they always acted like really good friends, but Sasha suspected way more than that on both their parts. She didn’t know what this meant. All she knew is that she had to find a way out of the basement now that she was free. She wandered around the walls to try and find a light. The basement was full of boxes and dust and old things. But over in the corner she saw something. It was a long black iron pole. A crowbar, and it wasn’t dusty. As a matter of fact, it looked like it had just been used – recently. Sasha got a chill sent down her spine. It gave Sasha the creeps imagining what someone could’ve done with it, but she had to use it to get out. She found the one window in the room. It was covered with a dark rag, so no sunlight at all came in. The only reason Sasha had even noticed the window was because when she was walking past it, she brushed the side, letting in sunlight. She yanked the rag off of the window, and the sun poured into the room. Sasha backed up, blinking. The window was old and dusty. The windowpanes were fogged with dirt. Outside she could see horses grazing in the pasture. The fence on a side of the pasture was 2 feet from the window. “So,” Sasha said to herself, “I’m still at Madison’s. That was nice of my kidnapper. Leave me somewhere where if I escape I can find my way back home,” Sasha proclaimed sarcastically. She pulled at the window, but it was stuck tight and would not budge. She jammed the crowbar under the bottom of the window and started pushing up on the window. Slowly the window began to move. She kept working, and the window sprang open. “YES!!” Sasha exclaimed. She pulled herself up and through the tight crawl space of a window. Cool air rushed in the stuffy basement. She lay on the grass, sprawled out and glad she was alive, panting. “Oh man, I’m not meant to do things like this,” Sasha thought to herself. Suddenly she heard a loud neigh from a horse and she looked up. Right above her, hanging it’s head over the fence stood a huge chocolate brown mare. “Whoa!” Sasha exclaimed, moving back from the horse. She had landed herself right in front of the pasture. She stood up and the mare nuzzled her face. “Aw,” Sasha commented, petting the horse on the head, “you’re a sweetie.” “So, where do I have to go to get out of here?” Sasha whispered to the horse. As if to answer her, the horse neighed in response, motioning with its head over to the far end of the pasture. “Yea!” Sasha exclaimed. “Thanks!!” She gave the horse one final pet on the nose and ran to the gate. She let herself out, snuck past the front of the store, hopped in her car, and drove off down the road.

I don't know about publishing. It would have to have a lot more editing done!! I'm so lazy when it comes to editing. :rolleyes: I'm adding two more characters. Both are skaters, but later there might be another one who isn't. Oh yea, the villain isn't obvious. You have to pay attention to the biggest clue so far - the name on the desk Sasha found - MISH Remember that, lol. Over at the Michelle Kwan Forum someone suggested that I add Maria Butyrskya in the story, so look out for her. :p Thanks again for reading guys!!

Chapter Six

Michelle didn’t know what to do. She had no idea where Tim was and the only clue she had was that his room had been ransacked for some reason. “Oh Timmy, where are you?” Michelle thought to herself. “Sasha!” She exclaimed out loud. She had totally forgotten. It had been hours since she had last seen Sasha, and she wondered what Sasha had discovered. She quickly stood up and ran out of the house. She pulled open her car door and took off down the road to Sasha’s house. She didn’t even know if Sasha would be there, but where else would she be? After all, it had been at least 3 hours since they had last seen each other. But why hadn’t Sasha called her?

The wind blew around the windows of the car as Michelle speeded down the almost empty road. It rustled the leaves on the trees, sending a strange eeriness down her spine. She felt like she was being followed. She turned around, but saw no one. No car on the deserted street, no one walking along on the sidewalk. No one. She heard a cat meow by one of the houses. Again, the chill ran up and down her spine. She turned around again, just in time to see a silver Mercedes round the curb into her street. “So what,” she thought to herself, “just because there’s a car behind me doesn’t mean that it’s following me. The driver was shadowed, and the darkness of 6:00 made it too dark to notice a license plate. “Calm, down Michelle,” she thought to herself. The Mercedes stayed about 20 yards down the road from her all the time. She picked up speed. So did the Mercedes. She happily saw Sasha’s house up ahead. She stopped the car in the driveway, and hopped out, just in time to see a shadowy figure dash behind a silver Mercedes 20 yards away.

“Oh my goodness! You had quite an adventure! Are you sure you’re ok?” Michelle exclaimed after Sasha had finished telling her about her trip to Madison’s. They had met up at Sasha’s house, Michelle arriving a little bit earlier than Sasha.

“Yea, I’m ok.” Sasha replied.

“Well, at least now we know this is not just a childish prank. Someone seriously doesn’t want us in the way.” Michelle commented.

“So, what do we do now Sherlock?” Sasha asked with a wide grin.

“Well,” Michelle continued, “we are supposed to meet up with some of the skaters tomorrow for World’s practice at the rink. We should probably talk to them and see what they think about Timmy, and who would want him out of World’s.” Michelle continued.

“Sounds good to me,” Sasha said. All of a sudden Sasha noticed Michelle staring into space. She looked like she was about to cry. “Michelle, what’s wrong?” Sasha asked, concerned. “Why are you crying?” Michelle pushed a tear away from her face.

“Nothing – we’d better get some sleep tonight, we have a big day tomorrow investigating and practicing for Worlds.” With that Michelle rushed out of Sasha’s bedroom and drove away in her car, tears streaming down her face.

Kind of. I got some advice from one of my past teachers who is currently reading my story, and he said that I should have one of my art-talented friends draw the cover after they read the story, so I am going to give it to them. I have two that can draw really well, so we'll see! When I'm all done and I have a cover and stuff, I'll scan it in or something to show you. My friend(s) aren't necessarily drawing the cover, but I'll have to see. Unless I find a really nice ocmputer picture or something. Stay on the lookout and let me know if you find something that is really nice. :)

Chapter Seven

Michelle’s hair flew back from her neck as she pulled into her spread eagle. Michelle had gotten to the ice rink early, and was there by herself, wondering if Timmy would show up for practice. After all, it was a mere two weeks until the World Championships. She skated up towards the middle of the rink, gathering speed for her triple salchow. She swung her leg in front of her to get better momentum, and in a huge sweeping motion, catapulted herself into the air, executing a perfect triple jump. Suddenly she heard clapping from the side of the rink. One of her best skating friends, Irina Slutskya, skated over to her.

“Hey girl!” Irina exclaimed with enthusiasm, giving Michelle a huge hug.

“Hey Irina, long time no see! It’s so great to see you again,” Michelle greeted her friend. “It’s so great to see Irina,” Michelle thought to herself, “she always cheers me right up, and is so great to be around.”

“So, what’s new?” Irina asked Michelle, smiling brightly at her friend.

“Well, a lot,” Michelle answered, looking down at her skates. Irina immediately realized something was wrong.

“Are you ok Michelle? Here, come talk to me backstage. No one else will be here for at least another hour.” She pulled Michelle off of the rink, finding a table and chairs in the back rooms of the rink. The two sat down, and Michelle just let it all out; the whole story, and started sobbing into Irina’s shoulder. Irina comforted her friend.

“You really like Timmy, don’t you?” Irina asked Michelle.

“Well, no, I mean, I don’t know.” Michelle answered, still looking down.

“So what are we going to do now?” Irina posed.

“We?”

“Yea, we are so in this together!” Irina exclaimed. “Plus, you got my costume’s left shoulder soaking wet!” Michelle smiled the tiniest bit, and stood up. She and Irina walked back onto the ice and spent the next hour practicing and critiquing each other. Exactly 45 minutes later, Sasha showed up at the rink. Michelle told her about Irina and how she would be helping with the investigation.

“Well, I don’t know about you two, but I’m gonna need some more practice if I’m going to beat either or you at Worlds this year! Sasha exclaimed, giggling. The two laughed together as Sasha skated away to practice her program. Michelle and Irina chatted for a while, watching her. Sasha pulled into an amazing split jump, and pulled off a very nice triple loop.

“She’s really good,” Irina observed, “her splits are exquisite!”

“Yea,” Michelle agreed, “she used to be an awesome gymnast, and so flexibility comes natural for her. She’s going to be tough this year. She had a close 4th last year! She just has to keep her jumps consistent.”

“Mmm hmm,” Irina agreed, “Well I better go practice then!” Irina skated off, so each skater could practice her program. Michelle skated over near Sasha, who was re-lacing her skate near the end of the rink. She started skating away, but Michelle had gotten no more than 3 feet away from Sasha when she heard Irina’s shrill frightened voice yelling, “Michelle! Sasha! Look out!” Michelle immediately looked up and saw a huge spotlight hurling straight towards them!

I agree, it is a very good story. It must be a lot of work to type those chapters up. And I think I speak for most everyone when I say I really appriciate you doing it. It's very enjoyable to read.;)

Told ya I'd have more chapters by this weekend! Here's the first one for the weekend (this one's a little long)(Sorry Alexei fans!):

Chapter Eight

Michelle screamed. Sasha looked up and froze in terror. Michelle was surprised at how good her own reflexes were as she catapulted herself at Sasha. She slammed into Sasha, forcing her out of the way. They rolled to cover their faces as they heard the loudest ear-splitting crash they had ever heard. The spotlight smashed down onto the ice, while thousands of shards of glass flew at them, as they tried to cover their faces as best they could. They could hear Irina skating over quickly to them.

“Oh my gosh!! Are you guys alright?” Irina yelled in amazement and shock. Michelle had a few cuts from the glass and bruises from throwing herself at Sasha, but nothing serious. Same with Sasha. Irina helped them up off the ice. Michelle started thinking.

“Hey, Irina, did you see how the spotlight fell?” Michelle asked inquisitively.

“I don’t think so,” Irina explained. “Suddenly the sound of footsteps could be heard along the balcony. They were quiet footsteps, like someone walking carefully not to be heard. They looked up. Everything seemed to be ordinary, and there was no movement. Yet they could still hear the muffled footsteps. Suddenly Michelle noticed a dark shadow moving slowly among the camera equipment. She could definitely not tell who it was, for all she saw was a silhouette.

“There they are,” Michelle whispered, pointing. “Let’s sneak up to the balcony and confront who ever this person is.” The three women inaudibly stepped off the ice, climbing the stairs to the balcony. Michelle disregarded the fact that she was still wearing her skates, and when she finally reached near the top of the stairs, she fell forward, tripping on the toe pick of her skate. The humungous clamor echoed through the rink as the person on the balcony heard it too, realizing the girls were coming after him. In response, they heard the running pattern of footsteps. They ran down the balcony, trying to keep up and not fall flat on their faces. They had heard the footsteps continue up from up ahead. As they rounded the corner, Michelle saw a silvery sparkle coming from what seemed to be the attacker’s coat. As he, ran, it glistened. Michelle’s ankles were throbbing from the high ankles on the skates, and they were digging into her. But she trudged on, knowing that this could be Timmy’s attacker. Finally they came to another staircase, and heard the attacker already far down it. Michelle realized that there was no way that they could get down there with skates on. Irina and Sasha realized their defeat and carefully sauntered down the stairs and onto the ice. It felt so good to be gliding on the smooth ice once again instead of running in the skates. Suddenly Michelle heard another familiar voice from the side.

“Michelle!” Michelle turned around to see male skater Alexei Yagudin. “Hey babe,” he said, skating up to her and squeezing her shoulder.

“Hi Alexei,” Michelle answered, rolling her eyes and pushing his hand off of her shoulder.

“I heard the ruckus while I was in the locker room. Obviously you guys are ok. And Michelle is looking totally gorgeous, as usual,” Alexei complemented, smirking.

“Alexei, stop!” Michelle exclaimed, blushing. Alexei and Michelle had dated for about two months, but then Michelle realized that even though Alexei had loved her, she didn’t like his macho – overconfident – full of himself – I’m-the-best-and-I-know-it attitude. She didn’t love him anymore, and she didn’t realize why she ever did, but Alexei still couldn’t get over the fact that they had broken up. I guess it was because at first Alexei was nice and kind, and modest, and gorgeous of course. But then his head got way too big.

“Well, I just wanted to make sure you guys were ok. I’m going to go practice at the other rink,” Alexei said, smiling back at Michelle as he skated off. Michelle abruptly noticed as Alexei walked away, the back of his jacket shimmered, with that silvery glow, just like the attacker’s had on the balcony. But why would Alexei want to hurt her? She had to agree; Tim was Alexei’s biggest rival besides Evgeni Plushenko when it came to competition. He had beaten Tim and Evgeni at Worlds last year, but only by a little. The top three were very close, and Evgeni and Alexei had only beaten Timmy by a hair. Alexei definitely had a motive to get Tim out of the competition. But where was Tim, and she had never known Alexei to cheat. Alexei loved to win, but she never thought he would cheat. Alexei totally loved competition, and his ego had definitely enlarged a couple sizes after being crowned Olympic and Worlds Champions of 2002, winning every competition he entered. She knew it could be anyone, but Yags was the biggest suspect now. Could the light have been an accident? But if it was, why had the person up there run away? And Alexei did seem to appear right after they lost their ‘attacker’. Michelle decided to keep her suspicions to herself for now and tell Irina and Sasha later.

“Forget it Irina, we’ll never get her out of that trance. Look at her face. I’ve waved my hand in front of it and called her name about 6 times and she has only blinked! She’s on a different wavelength.”

“Huh?” Michelle said, blinking and looking at her friends.

“That was so creepy,” Irina commented, “you looked so weird. What were you thinking about?”

“Probably about her and Timmy,” Sasha exclaimed, teasingly. “oooOOOOooo!!”

“Sasha, no I wasn’t. Can we please stop talking about him right now?”

“Admit it, you were so thinking about him, ad you totally like him!” Sasha exclaimed.

“Alright that’s it!” Michelle yelled, chasing Sasha in a speed match around the rink.

“Oh my gosh, you two are hilarious,” Irina commented, “but really Michelle, what is the deal with you and Timmy? I have seen you two together.”

“We’re just friends!” Michelle yelled at Irina, still chasing Sasha around the rink. But Sasha and Irina smiled, knowing better, as Michelle was tickling Sasha to death. “Ok, ok! I was joking! Brrrr the ice is cold!” Sasha exclaimed, bucking and squirming on the ice to try and get out of Michelle’s grasp. Irina laughed, as Michelle finally stopped tickling Sasha and stood up.

“Let’s go get a meal in the café. I’m totally starved!” Sasha squeaked.

“Sounds great to me!” Irina agreed.

“Whatever,” Michelle said, smiling. They slipped on their blade covers and walked toward the café.

“What are you getting?” Sasha asked Michelle, eying the menu.

“I dunno, maybe that grilled chicken sandwich looks good.” Michelle answered. When they had all gotten their food, Michelle couldn’t really concentrate. She kept thinking about Timmy and Alexei and everything. Timmy still had not shown up, and now she was really worried. She kept staring off into space while Irina and Sasha were arguing about how hot Enrique Iglesias was. Michelle didn’t pay attention. She wondered again if she was so worried out of friendship or out of love. Timmy was always so friendly towards her. Sure, they had flirted a couple of times, especially in the kiss & cry at Hershey’s, but she wasn’t sure.

“He really needs to get rid of that black hat he’s been wearing.” Sasha said.

“Yea, it’s cute but I like hi hair, and it totally covers it,” Irina agreed.

“What do you think Michelle?” Sasha questioned, both of them staring at her.

“Huh?” Michelle responded.

“Geez Michelle, get with the program! We were talking about Enrique Iglesias.” Sasha explained. “You’re always staring into space lately.”

“Yea,” Irina agreed.

“I’m ok,” Michelle reassured them. “Now, about Enrique…”

Ok!! Yay!! I finished another chapter! Here's your Nationals present (I am sooo nervous about tonight, so I preoccupied myself by writing this):

**Chapter Nine**

Michelle propelled herself in the air, rotating 3 times before gracefully landing on her blade. The music seemed to swallow her up as she pulled into her inside/outside change-edge spiral. After lunch at the café, everyone had split up. Sasha had just gone home, trying to avoid Tatiana for the day, and Michelle had sent Irina to follow Alexei to see what he was up to. Michelle had decided to stay at the rink, for there was still a slim chance that Timmy might show up. After all, it was only 1:30, and there was still a lot left in the day. She had been doing a lot of thinking lately; her friends knew it, and she knew it. Thinking about everything: Timmy, Sasha, Irina, the note, the competition, the accident, and just about anything.

She catapulted herself into the air again for a triple salchow. “It is amazing,” she thought to herself, “how I can just skate and complete jumps when my mind is definitely not on skating right now. It seems to people watching that I am only in the air for half of a second, but to me it seems like forever. Skating just comes so easy to me.” She didn’t know why she was just thinking about this now. She was all alone in the rink. Her coach Scott had stopped by earlier to find out if she was ok, but had left after a half an hour. The owner of the rink had brought people by to clean up the glass, but other than that, Michelle had been alone all day.

~~~~~~~~~~~
“She doesn’t seem to know anything really,” a dark voice whispered from the balcony.
“But she was on to us, I was sure! She called while I was at the house, and you should have seen the message she left on the machine! She knew a whole lot about the note and everything!” Another one whispered.
“Well you didn’t have to pick up the phone you idiot! Now she knows something is even more wrong after you talked to her! Especially when you were in Timmy’s house and Timmy wasn’t! Then she went over to the house and found it’d been ransacked, and now she’s even closer to finding us!” He watched her curve on the ice, dancing around like a ballerina, realizing how beautiful she really was.
“Relax. I won’t let her get any closer to us. Leave it to me.”
“You’d better not! I’ll be watching you. If she finds out, I’ll have your head!”
“It won’t happen again, I promise. You can count on me.”
The two shadows crept out of the rink.
~~~~~~~~~~~

The hours at the rink continued, but they only seemed like minutes to Michelle. It started to get dark. She looked around ad realized that she had been on the ice for 5 hours, chased someone down on the balcony, threw herself at someone to avoid getting hit by a huge spotlight, and her muscles were just starting to hurt now. The area outside of the rink was dark, and the trees were casting shadows through the windows. The rink was now completely dark now except for the lights on the ice, and Michelle figured she had better leave; Timmy obviously wasn’t showing up. She slowly skated over to the edge of the rink, picked up her covers and slipped them on. The rink was getting creepy in the dark, and she picked up her bag. She sat down on a bench by the rink to take off her skates. She carefully put her skates into the bag, laced her sneakers, and slung her bag over her shoulders. She was happy she put in such a rewarding day of practice. Suddenly she heard her name being called, in a whisper. She immediately knew who it was.

“Timmy!” she exclaimed. She could see Timmy’s shadowed face, crouched being one of the hallways. “What are you doing here?! Your house-yesterday-what?”

“Shhhh,” Timmy said, putting a finger to his lips. It was then Michelle noticed the huge gash on his arm, his nose bleeding, and his black eye. His once curly hair was out of place and matted with dried blood. His clothes were just jeans and a tee shirt, but they were bloody too. Michelle gasped at the sight of Timmy like this.

“Shhhh I can’t talk now,” Timmy whispered again. Suddenly they heard a door creaking open from across the rink. Michelle turned her attention to the door. It was just Mr. Johnson, the owner of the rink. “I’m gonna close up early today Michelle, you know with everything that happened. And since, you’re done, I want to make sure everything here is ok.”

“Ok, sure,” Michelle responded. As she turned herself back to Timmy, all she saw was the empty hallway. “Timmy!” she exclaimed again, but Timmy was gone, and her voice echoed through the rink as she realized that she was completely alone; Alone in the ice rink. Michelle shook her head, brushing out the fact that Timmy was actually there.

“I must have imagined it, but how?” Michelle thought to herself, now totally confused. “What is wrong with me?” Michelle asked herself. “I’m hallucinating, and I’m going crazy because of this whole Timmy thing. I need a good night’s sleep.” Michelle paused. “And now I’m talking to myself.” Michelle tried to smile, shaking her head. She slowly walked down the concrete stairs of the ice rink, the cold of the outside greeting her. She shivered, and buried her hands into her jacket. Her cotton practice pants weren’t very warm, and a cold breeze blew past her and chilled her bones. The still bare trees cast shadows onto the streets and buildings. She shoved her hands further into the pockets of her red zipper sweatshirt, her dark hair blowing behind her. She continued walking silently down the street. Her sneakers were quiet along the sidewalk, and the moon shone up above, a huge eerie white glow coming from it.

The sky was starless, and the neighborhood was quiet for 5:30 at night. She saw her car, a cute red Chevy, parked a half a block from the complex. As she approached her car, she noticed a large bulky package stuck under her windshield wiper. She quickened her pace towards the car. Her heart was pounding in her chest, and she had the sinking feeling that this package was not a good sign. She finally reached the car, and carefully pried the package out from under the wiper. It was a crude package, like one of those tan postal ones you send things in. The top was sealed shut, but the package was bulky. It was soft, actually, and Michelle was surprised. She turned the package over in her hands. There was no writing on it, and it was crinkled. Michelle was debating whether to open it.

Swallowing, Michelle carefully opened the package. She had trouble seeing what was inside. It was a dark cloth, maybe black or blue. She carefully pulled it out, the package dropping to the ground. It sparkled as she pulled it out, and when she held it out in front of her she realized what it was – Timmy’s Paris costume – streaked with blood.

I'm going to a party now, so I figured I'd post it before I leave. Have fun!

Chapter Ten

Michelle’s knees buckled underneath her and she fell forward onto the sidewalk. She felt so helpless, having no idea what to do now. Was Timmy really hurt, or was someone tricking her into thinking Timmy was dead? How did this person even know she was at the ice rink all day practicing? The only people who knew she was here all day were Sasha, Irina, the real/imaginary Timmy, her dog Tofu and… Alexei. Where had Alexei really gone after their “encounter”? Again, Michelle couldn’t imagine Alexei wanting to hurt anyone, especially her. But what if the whole macho thing was an act, and he really was behind everything? Timmy was doing 3 quads in his long program this year, and one was the incredibly difficult Quad Lutz that no one had ever landed in competition before. Alexei and Michelle and everyone had seen Timmy perfecting it at practices, and he was extremely good. Maybe Alexei felt threatened because Timmy was actually performing a jump that he couldn’t do. Alexei was used to always being the best; maybe he felt he had to get Timmy out of the competition. And then there was Timmy. Had she really seen him at the rink? He seemed like he was really there, not a figment of her imagination, but she hadn’t touched him. And he had talked to her, so he had to be real. But why did he look like that – like he had been in a fight? She was so worried about him, and so confused. Suddenly she heard a loud smashing noise as something hit the ground, bringing her out of her trance. She looked down at her feet and saw a black rectangular object lying on the ground. It had fallen out of the package, and she hadn’t known anything else was in there, being so wrapped up with Timmy’s costume. She carefully picked it up off of the curb, and realized what it was – a videotape. There was no cover on it or anything, just a normal videotape. There were only four letters scratched in the corner along with 3 numbers: QK – AM – 043. She turned the tape over in her hands. Suddenly she heard the bushes rustle next to her. Michelle froze, but suddenly had the reaction to jump into her car and get out of there. Swiftly, a shadowy figure jumped out at her and Michelle screamed. Then she heard high-pitched giggling.

“IRINA! Don’t EVER do that to me again! Were you trying to kill me?!” Michelle shouted. All Irina could do was roll around on the sidewalk laughing.

“I’m sorry,” she stuttered between her laugh attacks, “I was coming back from the complex to see if you had left and I saw you standing here, just staring into space, so I snuck up behind the bushes.”

“Irina! Sometimes you act just like a 5-year-old!” Michelle screamed at her friend, still angry. Irina’s laughter subsided and she soon had a very serious expression.

“What’s wrong Michelle? You never take things this seriously,” Irina questioned, noting the serious tone to Michelle’s face and voice.

“What are you doing tonight?” Michelle asked.

“Nothing, why?” Irina responded.

“Why don’t you come eat dinner at my house so we can talk about what happened today? I’ll call Sasha too.”

“Sounds great Shellerz!” Irina exclaimed, “I walked here because I’m only 2 blocks away at Shae-Lynn’s. I’ll call her from you house, kay?”

“Good,” Michelle said, “Come on, hope in.” They both jumped into Michelle’s car, Michelle glad to be in the company of Irina.

“So what’s the deal?” Irina asked Michelle, fidgeting in the front seat as Michelle started the car. The car roared to life as they sped down the street. Michelle remained silent, pretending to concentrate on the road.

“I’ll tell you guys at dinner, alright?” Michelle responded.

“Alright,” Irina agreed, blasting “She Bangs” by Ricky Martin on the radio, now dancing in her seat. Michelle laughed and they both started singing along, Irina’s accent floating through the air, and laughing at the same time. The cute red Chevy bounced down the street, laughter and music pouring out of it.

Chapter Eleven

It was not long until they reached Michelle’s house. The car doors slammed and Michelle and Irina approached the house. Michelle’s keys jingled as she pushed open the door. Tofu yapped and jumped up into Michelle’s arms.

“Hiya boy,” Michelle greeted, stroking his fur. Irina popped into the kitchen and flipped on the lights.

“So what are we eating?” Irina eagerly asked, “I’m starved!”

“We could just order pizza. I don’t really have anything to cook, so pizza would we great.”

“Alrighty then!” Irina commented, getting out plates and cups for the pizza. “Do you have any potato chips or something?” Irina asked while placing cups on the table.

“I don’t know, maybe. I know I have chips and salsa,” Michelle responded.

“You’re such a health food nut, Shellerz!” Irina accused. Michelle laiughed. “Aha!” Irina exclaimed, “Ruffles – in the 2nd cabinet next to the sprite.”

“Good,” Michelle continued. She picked up the phone, and, after calling in the pizza, dialed in Sasha’s number. The phone rang three times before the answering machine picked up.

“Hiya, this is Sasha! Obviously, I’m not here right now, so you can leave a message and I’ll get back to ya! BEEP!”

“Hey Sasha it’s Shellerz. Irina’s here, and we were wondering if you want to come over for pizza and talk and stuff. We could prob-” Then the phone picked up.

“Hey Shellerz!” Sasha exclaimed cutely. “Sorry, I was half way in the door when the phone rang because I had just got back form shopping at American Eagle and I had a ton of stuff - I had trouble getting in the door! Then I tripped and fell flat on my face and my bags flew all over the floor and then-”

“Ok, Sasha, geez! Take a breath!” Michelle laughed. “So, are you coming?”

“Sure! Sounds fun!” Sasha exclaimed. “Besides, all I was going to end up having was Mac and Cheese anyway.”

“Great!” Michelle said. “See ya soon!” Michelle hung up the phone. “Sasha’s on her way!”

“Goof, I can’f wafe,” Irina said, her response muffled by all the potato chips she was shoving into her mouth at a very rapid pace.

“Irina! Don’t eat them all!” Michelle called out, yanking the bag out of Irina’s hand.

“Hey! I wast eatin ghat!” Irina responded, bits of potato chips flying out of her mouth.

“Ew, Irina, you piglet!” Michelle laughed. “I swear, I don’t know how you stay so skinny with all the junk you eat!”

“You’re skinny and so is Sasha!” Irina commented, swallowing the last of her potato chips.

“Yeah, but we WATCH what we eat!” Michelle laughed again. Suddenly the doorbell rang. Irina jumped up and ran to the door. She threw it open and was about to throw herself at Sasha. “SAS-” She realized it wasn’t Sasha.

“Michael, what are you doing here?” Michelle asked, surprised. It was Michael Weiss, another male figure skater, who they hadn’t seen in world’s practice yet. He was dressed in blue jeans and a navy sweater. His hair was pushed back, and he looked nice.

“I can’t stay long, I was just on my way back to my hotel to have dinner with my family. But I heard about what happened at the rink today and I think I have information that can help you. I was at the rink early this morning and the only other person there with me was Evgeni. We aren’t too friendly, I mean, we can have a casual conversation, and we don’t dislike each other, but, you know. So I was at the one side of the rink, practicing my Quad Lutz and he was at the other side practicing. Suddenly we heard metal scraping against the floor up on the balcony. We looked up and saw Alexei in his skates up on the balcony. He was in his practice clothes, and his coach was with him. They were pointing to the other rink, the ladies rink; the rink you guys were skating on. They were talking, but we couldn’t hear anything. Now, that isn’t necessarily wrong or anything, but then Tatiana pointed over to the spotlight, looked down at me, glared, and whispered to Alexei. Then they walked over to the spotlight, and moved it across to the other side of the balcony, which was further away from where it was when it almost fell on you. Then they left down the south stairs. I thought this was peculiar, but I left the rink early to go into the gym, and didn’t find out what happened until later. Alexei saw me in the café and was rambling about what happened. I really don’t think Alexei did it, because he moved the spotlight away from where it hit you. Someone must have moved it back. I figured I should tell you guys, if it helps you,” he finished.

“Thanks Mike,” Michelle replied, her mind now turning in deep thought. “Are you sure you don’t want anything?”

“No, I’m fine. My family’s waiting for me.” Michael replied, turning back to his car.

“Thanks!” Irina exclaimed. Mike waved and pulled out of the driveway. Michelle shut the door behind her and Irina.

“That information throws off my suspicions even more,” Michelle responded. No sooner had they gotten back into the kitchen when the doorbell rang again. Irina ran to the door and threw it open.

“SA–---sha.” Irina exclaimed, stopping herself from throwing herself at the person at the door. It was the pizza deliveryman. “Okay. That’s it. I’m not going to get ready to throw myself at Sasha, because it’s NEVER SASHA!!” Irina commented, storming off. Michelle giggled.

“Don’t ask,” Michelle said to the pizza guy, paying him and taking the pizzas from his hands. She closed the door, breathing in the delicious aromas secreting from the pizza. “Mmmm…” Michelle sighed.

“Oh you KNOW I have first dibs on that pizza!” Irina exclaimed, rushing toward Michelle and yanking the pizza from her hands.

“IRINA!!” Michelle yelled, chasing after her. “You have to wait until Sasha gets here!” As if on cue, the doorbell rang. Irina just stood there.

“Aren’t you going to throw yourself at Sasha?” Michelle asked.

“No, because it’s never Sasha and it won’t be this time either. With my luck, it will probably be TIMMY!” Irina exclaimed. Michelle opened the door and there stood… Sasha!

“Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!” Irina shouted. “Sasha, ring the door bell again,” Irina said as a confused look covered Sasha’s face as Irina slammed the door and backed down the hallway. The doorbell rang and Michelle opened the door. Irina ran down the hall at top speed, charging toward the door. “SASHA!!!!!!!!!!” Irina screamed. Sasha squealed, running in the opposite direction as Irina launched herself into the air, crashing into Sasha. They fell onto the grass laughing.

“Geez! How come everyone is throwing themselves at me today?!” Sasha exclaimed. Irina cracked up laughing, rolling on around on the grass. Michelle was laughing in the doorway, the light from the house casting her shadow onto the grass.

“Come on guys, or I’m gonna eat all the pizza myself!” Michelle yelled, racing into the kitchen.

“Hey! No fair!” Irina yelled, stumbling to get off of the grass and running into the house. Sasha also picked herself up off of the grass and followed Irina in a mad dash to the door. The girls giggled as they all sat down at the kitchen table, pulling open the pizza boxes. Irina pulled a slice out; shoving it into her mouth, cheese oozing out. “Yes! First one!” Irina shouted, shoving more into her mouth. Michelle and Sasha started laughing, each grabbing a slice of pizza.
