Here (http://www.figureskatersonline.com/johnnyweir/journal.html) is a new update from Johnny. It's pretty hilarious and he makes a couple of biting comments toward Evan. It's a good long entry and he sounds happy with his progress and work ethic.

OMG YAY.
I am the happiest fangirl ever!
LOL Johnny darling, your grammar isn't perfect, but at least you UPDATE once every 2 months at least, and we know your entries are written by you, and they actually have substance.
And the whole Dior thing made me crack up.
I know some people are going to get all pissed at the Evan/Kimmie comment, but personally, I thought it was funny. And true.
Johnny love, you are amazing, don't ever change.
LOL I love this journal.

YAY i love johnny! he sounds happy and i am really glad he is doing so well this season. this quote made me SO happy "To quad or not to quad can be debated forever, but I absolutely REFUSE to define my sport by one element."
....rule to live by for all of skating. triple-triples, 3A's, quads, they are all that skating is about!! i am glad johnny isn't afraid to say it
edit: "If you look closely on my free program you'll notice a bright red broken heart"
LOL you dont have to look very closely!!! how could you NOT notice that?? i mean, i love it, but it is nothing if not noticable!

OMGOMGOMGOMG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ENTRY FOREVER!!!!!!!
*runs off and reads voraciously*
(Oh yeah, be prepared for total fangirly-ness.)
Aww, he's gushing about Mirai? And he was inspired by her! What a sweetheart!
ITA with Leyla about the Evan/Kimmie comment. It was a bit acrid, yes, but I have to admit that I LOLed.
Actually, TBH, I <3 that whole paragraph because it's all so true.
I was a bit shocked at what he said the Chinese fans did. Why would you send such a letter to someone who you claim to be a fan of? I wouldn't call that true support. Then again, we don't know what was actually in the letter, just Johnny's interpretation, so it may not have been that harsh. Who knows.
I'm glad Johnny gave some closure on the whole quad issue, even though his answer wasn't completely definite. It was bugging me too how people wouldn't just lay off and let him do the quad when he felt was necessary.
Overall, awesome journal, as always!

his journals are so funny I love them :D
When I returned from Russia, I was expecting to see some kind of announcement from my federation or the US Olympic Committee that I had won an award, but I didn't see anything. I know it's interesting when Evan Lysacek attends a movie premiere, and I could pee myself with glee if Kimmie Meissner throws out one more pitch at a baseball game, but I actually won something! I do my best, and I got an award for it, but I think nobody in my country is proud of it except for me and my family! So, in the spirit of not being mean I'll stop this paragraph.
I will say I don't have a stitch of Dior. The House of Christian Dior was made famous by using a more voluptuous silhouette after World War II and is a bit too "masculine" for me. Instead, I am glitter bomb and loving it.

I love Johnny's journals, they are so long and personal. It's funny since right before this journal, I was thinking if he stayed at russia for coc and cor, or if he went home and came back.
and he's a Mirai fan! :D
personally, I like Dior, but he's joke was pretty funny

 I <333ed that game!
The descriptions are SO fitting! That really is what I think of them when I think first, except for Taka, I would have like...ugly only b/c his costumes are hideous, and for Evan, like...black for obvious reasons. ;)

YES! I was just looking last night to see if he'd updated it, and finally we get it today. I'd been waiting for this! :)
Mirai Nagasu really impressed me on the trip. She is very intelligent and talented for a girl who is so young. I thought it was so respectful for her to use her Japanese in any way she could. There are a lot of US skaters who speak other languages but are afraid to use their skills, and Mirai put it out there and I know the Japanese appreciated it.
Aww, haha, he's a Mirai fan! I love everything he had to say about her. That was sweet.
I know it's interesting when Evan Lysacek attends a movie premiere, and I could pee myself with glee if Kimmie Meissner throws out one more pitch at a baseball game, but I actually won something!
 Hilariousss. I love him, haha.
As for China itself, I don't know how they'll manage to clear up the pollution in time for the Olympics. It was such a problem for me. I have trouble breathing normally anyway, but the air was thick like honey and made anything very tiring and difficult.
Eeek. Well that's not good. I hope they can get that cleared up for the Olympics...
Aside from practices, my week was packed with restaurants, shopping and shows. I went to the book release party of Marina Anissina, saw Yunona and Avos and met Nikolai Tsikaridze after he performed as the evil genius in the Bolshoy's production of "Swan Lake." I really tried to soak up as much as I could. I worked very hard on my skating that week, but it was very nice to some relaxing and fun things too. I felt inspired and ready to perform.
I'm glad he's getting to do some fun stuff in between practicing and competing... It seems like he has found a really good balance in his life right now.
To quad or not to quad can be debated forever, but I absolutely REFUSE to define my sport by one element.
I love this quote, and I completly agree with him.
I will say I don't have a stitch of Dior. The House of Christian Dior was made famous by using a more voluptuous silhouette after World War II and is a bit too "masculine" for me.
 Wow. Once again, I absolutely love Johnny.

The comment about Evan and Kimmie was immensely true and I totally get why he said it, but at the same time, in one sentence he insulted the Men's National Champ, the Ladies' National Champ, USFSA, and the United States Olympic Committee. That is not a smart move.
Warranted? Maybe, but the latter two control his career. He has full right to complain, but doing it in such a backhanded way on an online journal everyone in the world can read... I just wish he'd think things through because he's having such a wonderful season and I'd really hate for things to come crashing down because he couldn't hold his tongue, or do this in a more tactful manner.
Other than that, I <3ed this entry. I'm glad he won the Russian award; he's so popular around the world it's unfathomable, really. And I'm glad he's so happy about the great season he's been having. This new long program really does wonders for him. It brings out all the best qualities. The Chinese thing surprised me as well. You can't really call yourself a fan if you get POed just because he hadn't competed in China for a few years. That's very silly.

Charzooka, I just want to point out, it's not backhanded, b/c as you stated, it is on an online website that everyone w/ internet access can see.
I would hate to see this ruin his season too, BUT I admire Johnny, knowing what control freaks the USFSA are, for having the guts to say that, b/c hey, you're right, they control his career. It WOULD be PC to toe the "I love thee, USFSA" line, but he doesn't.
Oh gosh, I love him.

Well, it's backhanded because it's by their grace that he's been allowed to compete - I know, I know, you don't have to correct me on corruptions and biases and whatnot, I'm aware - and instead of going through any official channels to express his concerns or letting his coach handle it, he just posted it on the internet without informing any of them.

Well, I mean...if he went to the USFSA and said "wow peeps, you're giving too much publicity to Kimmie and Evan for meaningless stuff and not enough to me..." how do you think that would have gone over with them?
And I'm sure he's talked to Galina about this...you don't know that she doesn't know about it, and I'm sure she does...or at least she and JWe have discussed it.
Aha, I see where you're coming from with backhanded...I think you mean "underhanded", like it's not nice to say that since it's by their grace that he's allowed to compete, not backhanded, which would be like, if he was spreading rumors.
And hey, let's face it...Russia would take him in a heartbeat ;)

Oh, yep, my bad. Haha.
No, I don't expect him to go right up to them and say something silly :-P But I'm sure it is possible to talk to them, and to be a bit more subtle about it. He's one of their best skaters, Russia would take him in a heartbeat (USFSA would never release him though, you see, so he couldn't actually do that) and I'm sure he could lay the pressure down in a more subtle way.

Probably. But this is JWe we're talking about. Subtlety is not his style.
But...couldn't he just STOP skating for USFSA and give up his American citizenship for a Russian citizenship? and then skate for Russia?
 with the lack of Russian skaters today, and Johnny's Russiaphilia, I'm sure it would be a match made in heaven. :D

Haha, I doubt it... I'm sure USFSA has a contract with Johnny. So unless he could find some loophole to get out of it or wait until the contract is up (whenever that might be)... There is probably no way he could skate for Russia ;)

No, USFSA would have to release him for him to be able to skate for Russia, and there's no way in hell that would happen.

Loved the Dior comment, and his comments on Mirai were very nice.
I thought the cracks about Evan and Kimmie as part of his gripe about the USFS ignoring his award was unnecessary -- and tacky. First, the ladies skaters always have gotten more attention than the men -- and Kimmie is a former World Champ -- so she deserves it. Until Johnny equals her accomplishments, he should leave her out of it.
As to the cracks about the attention the USFS gives to Evan -- so far, I have asked on three boards about it, and the only article that was found was on Evan attending a premiere for a Disney movie -- that occurred during the time that USFS had the contract with Disney owned ABC. Cross-promotion isn't the fault of the USFS. If anyone has any other articles here, let me know -- so far, this sounds like Johnny is speaking without thinking -- and it isn't making him look good (IMO, at least) It also dilutes the effect of the Dior comment -- which was a jewel!

Johnny? Skating for Russia? I hate that idea. I love being able to take pride in Johnny - he's American. I'm American. He's my boy. Skating for Russia just makes him seem so distant.
When he does well internationally, I can stand up and be like, "Yeah, that hottie-pa-tottie is from MY country! Be jealous!"

This was a note added to Johnny's latest journal today.
December 7, 2007
Johnny added a note about his "Lyubov k Rossii" award to his recent Journal. He wrote:
"I want to thank people at ESPN, staffers at USFSA and members of Skating Magazine for taking prompt action in recognizing my award that I was upset had gone unrecognized. I immediately got reactions from everyone after my latest journal entry was posted and I want to thank them for getting to me so quickly. I overreacted and they were a little out of the loop as far as my award, 'Lyubov k Rossii' goes. I am sorry for anyone I offended or hurt with my rant and I am glad the award is getting recognized by my country and federation. Thanks."
