my parents said they would consider getting me tickets to some skating show for my birthday. it doesnt matter when during the year they are, but it has to be within an hour and half of NYC. any advice on which show i should try to get tickets for and where i can get them? i REALLY wanted to go to smuckers when it was in long island or trenton, but it is apperently sold out :o *boooo*
any advice?

Well, I don't know about Stars on Ice, but I thought Champions on Ice was the greatest thing to walk the Earth...or at least tour it. haha.
I'm sure both are great though.

I doubt SOI is sold out. They have preorder forms for the 2007-2008 season, but official ticket sales at the ticket booth hasn't started yet.
here are a few you can try:
COI in spring 2008
SOI in spring 2008
2007 fall Fashion on ice by disson skating in Atlantic City (not sure how far that is from where you are)

there is also broadway on ice, disney on ice.
to look for tickets, one main site is http://www.ticketmaster.com/
look under "family" on the left panel, then "ice shows" again on the left panel, enter your zip code and search.

SOI, in my experience, is more cohesive and IMO I liked it a lot more than COI which was kinda blah.

i'm going to put this here becuase i dont know where to put it....but i know alot of skaters here watched ice diaries, and sandy rucker, the one who was injured who didnt make it past regionals, she is now touring with disney on ice, in high school musical on ice! i just thought that was interesting and i hope she's happy because it must have been hard to give up on competing

WHAT?! No way! I almost went to that! I felt sorry for her watching Ice Diaries. She kind of ruined the show, though, poor girl.

she didnt ruin the show, in my opinion. it was supposed to document their real lives, and unfortunately, part of the skating world is all the people who never make it, and who have to live with that. she fought through an injury as long as she could and honestly, her situation isnt that uncommon on elite skaters who arent in the really super top tier

I dunno, she seemed really whiny to me and she never seemed to want to listen to her coach. I did feel really bad that she had that injury, but she just didn't come across as the nicest person and her segment was the one I least liked watching (I skipped it the second time I watched on YouTube).
I believe she's skating Ashley Tisdale's part on HSM On Ice.

Sandy's part on Ice Diaries, I've heard, was cut to make her look whiny and such. she's not really like that. Ah the joys of editing...

That may be true. They were definitely promoting Alissa as The Best Thing Ever (though they had pretty good reason at the time).

I went to COI this past year and loved it. I am not sure if it better than SOI but seeing skaters sakte live is amazing.

yeah i mean it's television, and they edited it to show some drama. i think she was turned into you classic misundersttod mean girl, but i felt sorry for her. she was living all alone and struggling so much. maybe she whined a little bit, but honestly i would whine too
