Did any of you guys ever meet anyone?
I met Irina Slutskaya in New York, and also I saw Johnny Weir in his Hummmer,but he wouldn't get out of his car to sign autographs, lol.

I told her good job on her performance.
She skated at a fund raiser that I was also skating at for my coaches Neice who had Lukemia.
I didn't get a picture with her though, because I had a headache and went home as soon as it was over.

Sasha Cohen (sortof, at the galleria thing that one time last december, she walked RIGHT infront of me ten times and i said hi to her and she said hi back!! and she signed two autographs, i wouldve been next but her security was in a big hurry)
and Tara Lipinski<3 i was the first in line to meet her and i forgot the camera to take a picture (haunts me everyday) but i got three autographs and she was the sweetest person ever!!

Just go to a local event (like regionals). You'll meet skaters and coaches. Easy. Like at Skate Detroit, Czisny was there, trying out her program.

Yeah it was awesome! And I'm going back to that venue for Skate America in October, and I have the same seats. 5th row for the short and long programs and 3rd or 4th row center for the exhibition.

How did you meet all these people?

I went to the Marshall's Showcase in Reading this year. A few of them stayed after the show was over and went around the ENTIRE rink signing autographs and talking with people. It was very cool. I'm mad that I didn't bring my camera.

I think I posted one or two of Kimmie in the thread where I talked about meeting her...I think it was called "My friends met kimmie meissner' because they met her before me and I was all upset because I thought I wouldn't get to, lol. But anyway you can search for that if you really want to see it but it's not really worth it IMO because the pics are not that great and I can't really guarentee that the links will still work because they are almost a year old. Sorry. :(

yes. Just Inoue and Baldwin though. They trained at the rink I used to skate at in Phoenix, Arizona for a like a couple months and one time I got out early from school and I went skating at 1 pm and they were there having a lesson with Jill Watson! so it was just them and me, my sister and my friend Nicole! It was soooo cool :D

I met Ryan Bradley yesterday at a benefit show. I didn't talk to him or anything but we were in the same building, and I saw him a bunch of times as I was walking around. My mom talked to him and got his autograph though because she loves getting autographs from the skaters. I will have to add him to my list. :D

I've seen Sasha twice. The first time I was right near her(like 5 feet away) and i yelled her name and she looked back and gave me this real cute smile and wave. The other time I saw her I met her and I was at the end of the line to meet skaters so I got to talk to her for five minutes! It was one of the best things that's ever happened to me. thats okay just go to all the Champions on Ice shows etc. that you can and try every time to get a little closer to Sasha I got near her both times and met her the second time and it was really easy! I actually just asked someone from COI staff if he could get me an autograph and he got me a pass to meet the sakters! Its easy just go with a good attitude and If you dont meet any skaters don't be dissapointed, just try again next year.

I met Philippe Candeloro, Marina Anissina and Gwendal Peizerat. It was at my friend's club show. Since the club is very little and they don't have a lot of good skaters, they invite other skaters. Candeloro who said it was probably his last exhibition performance. I took some pics of him but I can't find them on my computer. I'll post them when I'll find them. I don't have pics of A&P but they were awesome and nice with everyone. (Well you can guess if wasn't like COI, there weren't so many people so it was easier for them to talk with the audience.)

I met Tara Lipinski and Ilia Kulik at a "Skating With the Stars" clinic in New Jersey in 1998, after the Olympics. I was 9 years old, and all day they had on-ice workshops and I had a group jumping lesson with Tara and she told me she liked my scrunchie and I did my double toe for her and she said it was good, and then at the end of the day they had an autograph session. Tara signed my copy of her autobiography, she wrote "to Erin" and everything, Ilia signed my autograph book, and I got a picture with the two of them. I also gave Tara a stuffed frog since she collects them and she loved it. That was an amazing day.
That same day I met Jamie Silverstein, back when she was skating with her old partner, and she was the sweetest person ever. She was young, probably only about 17, but she was so pretty in person and I got her autograph and a picture with her.
Then in August 2002 I was at a competition at Ice House in NJ and we saw Sarah Hughes and Robin Wagner walking through the rink to go practice! They were in a rush and I think Robin was a little pissed that Sarah stopped to take a picture with me, but she did. I didn't really get to talk to her or get an autograph because Robin rushed her along, but I got a great picture!
And a couple other skaters I saw around off-ice in person at competitions, but didn't speak to them or anything. At State Games of America in 2003 Johnny Weir was there coaching and he was probably 10 feet away from me in the lobby, and at a competition in 2000 I was in the same room as Robin Wagner and Emily Hughes (who at that point was not famous yet at all but people still knew who she was for being Sara's sister) at Mid-Atlantics in NYC. I also watched Emily practice at North Atlantic Regionals in 2003.
And yeah, I think that's it. I've been to COI and SOI and seen so many skaters skate live, but unfortunately have never gotten backstage. It is one of my goals in life to meet Sasha!

I did thank her in Russian for signing my photograph but I think it's just that she is very shy and quiet, although her English is pretty faultless... There were a lot of Russian friends of hers, Ilya's and Alexei's around.

You know...this sounds awful, but I don't remember. I think I probably did because all of the stars did group lessons throughout the day as part of the clinic. I know that Tara's was jumping and some coaches did one on stroking, but I don't remember if I skated with Ilia or not. In my defense, it was 9 years ago :lol:. Sorry!

Haha aww but yeah they're really really sweet people. Even though I'm like a nobody skating on their sessions they still say hi to me and my coach and converse with us. Platov is pretty ok too; slightly intimidating at first but not unfriendly at all. He calls me "darling" haha.

I've had a conversation with Michael Weiss before. He used to skate at the rink I trained at in Virginia and when he would go on the ice to practice his program during the freestyle sessions, everyone would move to the sides and watch. Well, I was going to the sides one of those times and I fell. He came up to me and asked me if I was ok and I freaked out, started crying, and skated off the ice really fast to my mom. Later, he saw my mom with me and made sure I was ok.

I've also talked with Brian Boitano before. He was skating at the rink I trained at in California and his session was over and i saw him go into the bathroom, so I waited and when he came out i asked him for his autograph.

I've also asked Michelle Kwan and Surya Bonaly for their autographs.

I've met Michelle Kwan. It was fabulous! She was extremely friendly and gave us all Winnie-the-pooh plushies. She let us take extra photos with her when the photographers and people in charge of the event didn't let us.

I've also met Craig Heath, he's a professional skater so I dunno if you lot know him. He taught at my rink for about half a year (he tours around) and did a fabulous program for our rink's ice show (which I was in as well).
