I posted this in another thread that involved discussion of Emily's supposed detention that she had to serve before leaving for the Olympics. I thought it was interesting and funny enough to be in the skating chat as well. There is a detailed reference to Emily's detention at her wikipedia site.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Hughes
It is at the very end of the biograhical info. It reads as follows:
Just before the Olympics, Emily gained a bit of embarrassing national attention when Access Hollywood reported that before her trip to Turin, Emily had to serve detention for excessive tardiness. The entertainment show played up the idea of "The Late addition to Team USA was also apparently Late to School". The transcript of the report is as follows:
"US Figure Skater Emily Hughes will be going for the gold this week but before that she had to go to detention hall. The 17 year old Hughes, younger sis of 2002 Olympic Gold Medalist Sarah Hughes and last minute sub for the injured Michelle Kwan, received the detention slip and had to stay after school for punishment just days before leaving for Torino. What was the honor student's crime? Well, turns out the late Olympic addition was also late to homeroom one too many times. Here's hoping Emily is not tardy for her Olympic moment."
There is also a link to the Access Hollywood site that mentions the blurb. Kinda funny. Emily in detention.....how cute!!! LOL
