Rudy Gallindo- was actually wearing a disco ball or something very close to it. Music disco, a dancey performance but not original and certainly not epic.
Evan Lysacek--cute number to different cuts of music. I didn't expect him to be so tall and skinny. He is a good dancer but looked a little tired.
Irina Slutskaya--she gained some weight and clearly had a belly. Her costume didn't fit her as well anymore. Music--Big Spender--cute and suits her well overall as opposed to some melodramatic piece. She really telegraphs her jumps but they are big albeit not very pretty. Nothing new there.
Stephane Lambiel- he came on right after Irina Gregorian, the hula hoop lady.
He was dancing along standing off the ice, waiting for Irina to finish and even struck her finishing pose with her. Cute. His spins are amazing but a little slower than I've seen in competition.
Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin- Beautiful lifts but so cold and unconnected to the audience or the music.
Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto-Nothing new to add. They are a fun couple but Tanith is way too thin. It's just wrong.
Johnny Weir- He is a beautiful skater but this program doesn't do much for him, My Way that is. His mind seemed to be elsewhere. I was a little bored.
Plush--IS GOD! He has so much darn presense. When he took the ice you just knew you were in the presense of greatness. His skating commands your attention. Tosca SP, I believe. So powerful and charismatic, leagues above all the other men. I can't even think nearly as fast as he goes through his footwork. He is a champion through and through.
Sasha Cohen-first of all she put on a little weight and was looking wonderfully healthy. She really looks too thin during the competition season but now she looks fit and happy, even with a hint of boobage. Her hair is quite long. She just floated over the ice and gave me goosebumps with her spiral. Her Russian splits are soooo high and just come out of nowhere...she really is an ethereal, gorgeous skater. Landed a double axel in front of us, very strong. She did have the tiniest of wobbles and her knee was a little deep but the power and the height of the jump were certainly there. All that talk about her jumps being small is just not true, at least not today.
She also seemed like she was enjoying herself the most. She'd dance to other skaters' music and during the finale just never stopped grooving and seemed really into it. During the finale---Say Say Say-- she just grabbed Tatiana Totmianina and started dancing with her. To quote Dick Button, music just oozes out of her. The girl's got serious rhythm! It was really hard to believe that it was her 80th or so show.
Shizuka--I love that program You Raise Me Up, but a lot of the moves are "borrowed" from Sasha and Michelle (the fan spiral, the Sasha skid, the I-spin with one arm extended, the Y-spin, overall lots of Kwan-like arm movement), so it distracted me a little. She is a very smooth skater and lands her jumps so gently and softly, very very nice.
Michelle--she is also smooth and lovely but she hardly came on the ice. It's the same old program she is skating to different music, this time it's A Song For You. It was my first time seeing her live and she was exactly how I imagined her. She is very fit and lost the extra couple lbs she had in Dec at the Skating Idol. She had the biggest applause.
She seems to be still plagued by her injury as she did not participate in the opening or closing numbers and lost control of her Charlotte once. I hope she takes care of herself and heals soon. Unfortunately, I heard she has degenarative joint disease of the hip (this was in a Russian article) which is a chronic condition.
