Hey, I was just wondering...what exactly is a doughnut spin? If you know, could you post a picture or something, so I could see it? Thanks!

To do a doughnut spin you basically do a camel, then bend you free leg and curve your back around to meet it then grab your blade with one hand thus creating a ring or "doughnut" position

Well, first you get into your car and drive to the front lawn of someone you don't like, and then... oh, wait... you're talking figure skating moves. Nevermind. :o

Thanks for asking. I never knew what that spin was called.

Oksana's doughnut spin was amazing...she gained speed on it, and in Swan Lake, her masterpiece short program in 1994, she did this flourish with her arm and hand which was absolute perfection, taking the spin ouf of merely the athletic realm, and turning it into art.

ITA! Hers was magnificent. The arm movement that I think you are referring to is straight out of the original Swan Lake ballet choreo.

I looked for Oksana's doughnut but came up with Shiza's instead. Thanks for posting the links, SashaTarafan!

My very favorite doughnut spin was performed by AP McD. Her's was gorgeous with a beautiful stretch and line. I HATE it when the skater drops the knee before settling into the spin. Ugly, Ugly.

And particularly Markova's interpretation, right?
