So, I was watching a baseball game the other day...and the commentators were running through the "keys of the game" like they do in every game...basically the major 3 or 4 things that the team needed to do in order to win. So with that in mind...what are they keys to this upcoming season for the top ladies? What, specifically, do the different skaters need to do in order to compete for an Olympic medal.
A few thoughts that I have...
Sasha: needs to have a number of solid LP skates starting early in the season and on leading up to the Olys in order to have good confidence that she can skate cleanly. I would say a 3/3 is important as well, but most that is secondary I think to the mental games.
Michelle: good choreo that she doesn't dump over the course of the season. She needs to skate in the GP in order to adjust her program to COP, I would also say that she needs improvement in her spins.
Irina: Stamina and health. She needs to come with the same passion and determination that she had last season.
Rochette: She will probably once again have outstandingly choreographed programs, she just needs to build her confidence and skate strong programs. I think she is capable of competing with the top but she is hindered by her lack of experience.

Um, so what do you guys see to be the keys to some of the top skaters...others could the Japanese skaters, other Americans, and so on. Let's get some pre-season chatter going here :)

Well, for the Japanese girls I would say that:

Miki Ando- Talented jumper, but really needs to improve on her spins and spirals, get more stretched out and add some more positions in the spin combos. She probably shouldn't focus so much on the quad so she doesn't lose focus for the whole program.

Shizuka Arakawa- Confidence, she had a great season and then a bad season, she needs to build up some confidence to have another great one.

I agree about Sasha, its really all mental games with her. She skates amazing practices, she needs to relax for the competition. I think she has really improved on that though. I'm so excited for her this season!
